About ProTechKit

I've spent years in the field — help desk, bench repair, on-site service calls, and managed IT for businesses that can't afford downtime. Along the way, I kept getting the same question from new techs and career-changers: "What do I actually need to buy?"

So I kept lists. Lists for the kid starting their first help desk job, lists for the tech about to do their first solo site visit, lists for engineers stepping up to managing whole client networks. ProTechKit is those lists, cleaned up and put in one place.

The rule is simple: nothing gets recommended that hasn't been used on real jobs. Not review samples, not spec-sheet comparisons — gear that has lived in a bag and earned its spot.

When you buy through the Amazon links here, the site earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. That keeps the lights on, and it never changes what makes the list — plenty of the software recommended here is free and earns this site nothing.
